“Goddamnit, Hardcastle, you have got to be kidding me!”

“But, in the midst of all my other preparations, I need to actually start up an illegal whisky distribution system? I don’t have time for this distraction!”

“I understand, sir; I wasn’t suggesting you should run things personally. Isn’t there someone there who could follow my directions? We don’t need to go full-on, just a taste to get him started. I’ve got a man in Northern Ireland, a former rebel, who owes me. All that needs done is to get him a barrel or two with no bond markings, maybe by boat in the night, and that’ll give Smith something to sniff after.”

“Gotta fracking be kidding me. Who the hell ….” Click. Boyle and MacPennuil. “Hold on, I think I’ve got just the ticket. There are two rascals who are just the type to do this. Hell, I don’t know for certain they aren’t already. Let me talk to them and get the ball rolling.”

“Excellent, sir, excellent. Here’s a burner phone number they can call me on once they’re ready. I’ll get them lined out on what to do and put them in touch with my man. You just continue your other preparations, sir; leave this to me.”
